Job overview
General and Vascular Surgery at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is internationally recognised.
- Charles Pannett Ward: at St Mary’s Hospital and is a 24 bedded Acute Surgical Ward. It specialises in providing high quality care to patients undergoing general and specialist emergency surgery.
- Surgical Innovation Centre: based at St Mary’s Hospital, this clinical area will see you gaining skills on a short-stay surgical ward (17 beds), a surgical assessment unit and post-surgical bariatric area.
- A8: ward, based at Hammersmith Hospital is a 26 bedded acute surgical ward that specialises in upper gastrointestinal (OG), hepatobiliary and endocrine surgery.
- Zachary Cope: a 24 bedded acute vascular surgical ward manages both simple and complex vascular cases.

Due to the strong support networks in place and the comprehensive nature of the development programme, this opportunity is suited to both nurses at the beginning of their career journey and for those looking for development within the specialty.

Main duties of the job
- Providing high quality, effective, individualised nursing care to patients across all sites by assessing their needs and developing, implementing and evaluating care plans without supervision.
- Maintaining accurate clinical observations of patients.
- Assisting in the teaching and development of nursing assistants and students, helping them to achieve their learning outcomes.

- NMC Registered Nurse with a BLS qualification
Skills/Abilities
Essential criteria
- Medication administration skills, including IV drug administration (or a willingness to undergo training)
- Good clinical skills and a commitment developing them further
- A knowledge of care planning, preceptorship, reflection and clinical supervision
Experience
Essential criteria
- Six months’ recent postregistration experience in an acute or critical care setting

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
