Job overview

We are looking for a motivated and dedicated Team Leader to join our established and friendly nurse led team at the Hayes Renal Satellite Unit.

 The successful applicant will have at least 12 months experience post renal course, have mentorship in practice qualification or equivalent & appropriate experience in haemodialysis.  You will have excellent communication skills and experience of leading a team.

 Hayes Renal Unit is a purpose built, haemodialysis unit with 24 stations, based in a tree lined street opposite the Beck Theatre in Hayes. There is free car parking available for staff.

We are open from 07.00hrs until midnight 6 days a week (Monday to Saturday). We work a variety of shifts including long and short day shifts and long and short twilight shifts.  The successful candidate is, therefore, expected to be flexible and able to work all shift patterns to accommodate the service needs.

Main duties of the job

·         To lead a team nurses in the delivery of high quality, effective, individualised care to all patients by assessing care needs and developing, implementing and evaluating them without supervision

·         To deputise for the nurse in charge as required

·         Monitor standards of nursing care and take appropriate action to maintain and improve them

·         To respond to patients, relatives and carers concerns as they arise and take remedial action as required

  • Relevant post registration course (ENB 136, CPPD in renal nursing) & experience in field
  • Teaching Qualification or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Mentorship course

  • Extensive experience in haemodialysis
  • Broader renal nursing experience
Desirable criteria
  • Satellite unit dialysis nursing experience

Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Organisation and management skills
  • Teaching experience : Student, HCA, new RN and patients
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Knowledge of NMC Code of Professional conduct.
  • IT skills including use of Microsoft office packages & electronic patient record systems
