Job overview

Band 7 MRI Radiographer at Charing Cross Hospital – Fixed Term Contract for Maternity Leave until 24 December 2024.

We are looking for a HCPC registered Band 7 Radiographer to cover maternity leave for an MRI team member at Charing Cross Hospital.

Charing Cross Hospital is part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The Trust employs 13,000 people, providing care for around a million people every year, in our five hospitals and a growing number of community services in North West London and offers 50 clinical specialities with one of the largest portfolios in the country.

Charing Cross Hospital provides a range of acute and specialist services, a 24/7 accident and emergency department and hosts the hyper acute stroke unit for the region. It is also a growing hub for integrated care in partnership with local GPs and community providers.

This post will give you the opportunity to build on and develop your clinical skills in MRI.

You should enjoy working collaboratively to provide the best possible care for our patients at all times. You will need excellent communication skills and have a flexible approach to work, as participation in extended working hours including evenings and weekends is essential.

Charing Cross Hospital offer a comprehensive range of MRI examinations with both clinical and research work being undertaken. 

Main duties of the job

  • To assist in the provision of an efficient MRI service.
  • To work as part of a professional radiography team providing a high quality diagnostic service.
  • To maintain a sensitive and courteous approach to patients.
  • To develop and improve professional expertise via continuous professional development.
  • To maintain a safe working environment within the MRI department.

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc (Hons) in Radiography or equivalent
  • College of Radiographer accredited IV cannulation course or equivalent.
  • HCPC Registration.
Desirable criteria
  • Post graduate qualification or evidence of formal study in MR.
  • Student Clinical Assessors qualification or course

Experience

Essential criteria
  • MRI experience at band 6 level or equivalent
  • Evidences an up to date knowledge of routine and complex MRI imaging techniques, including contrast studies.
  • A knowledge of recent developments within the profession.
  • An understanding of the clinical governance issues in relation to patient care.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of training staff and students
  • Previous experience as Band 7 Senior MRI Radiographer in the NHS

Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of a commitment to continuous personal development in MR.
  • Ability to teach and mentor students, more junior staff and new members of staff.
  • Computer and IT skills
