Job overview

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and forward thinking Nurse who is looking for a new challenge to lead through improvement, influence practice and initiate a positive change culture within Paediatric Outpatients Services.

The successful applicant must be a driven individual with focused on delivering patient centred care with a commitment to providing a quality service that is responsive to the changing needs of the children and young people accessing the service. Understanding the need for change you must be flexible, open and be able to build and motivate your team.

Your role will include all aspects of the management of the outpatient clinics at St Marys and Hammersmith Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the flow, productivity and patient experience is closely managed and will have line management responsibility for a team of nurses, health care assistants and phlebotomy.

As the Manager you will also be required to work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team working clinically. A varied and wide nursing knowledge base and clinical experience is essential. An ability to use your nursing expertise to promote safe, evidence based complex care pathways is essential alongside proven strong leadership skills. The ability to adapt to ever changing clinical situations will be key to your success.

Main duties of the job

  • To oversee the delivery of high quality, safe and effective care focused on improving outcomes and experiences for patients, families and careers. 
  • Be responsible for the day to day operational functioning and clinical requirements of the area.
  • To be a visible leader working cross site clinically 50%. Demonstrate excellent role modelling for a team of nursing and support staff creating a positive culture adhering to our values.
  • Develop patient care pathways and service delivery improvement in collaboration with senior nursing and management teams.
  • Assist Matron and Educators with identifying and implementing practice development for staff within the area.
  • Ensure staffing and care delivery is in accordance with Trust and NMC codes of conduct.
  • Manage budgets and resources efficiently and effectively.

  • Significant experience within Paediatrics
  • Experience of leading within a clinical setting
