We are actively seeking  Medicine Management Pharmacy Technicians to join our fantastic team, within Distribution, Dispensary and Stock Teams, based at either of our sites. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that our patients get the best possible pharmaceutical care.

You will be working within the Pharmacy Dispensary, Distribution, and Stores Team. Delivering top-notch, patient-centric dispensing and stock management services. Your role will play a pivotal part in ensuring the best outcomes for our patients.

 Our Pharmacy department is massive, with over 300 staff working across St Mary’s, Charing Cross, and Hammersmith Hospitals – each site offering a wealth of opportunities for any Pharmacy Technician looking to expand their career!

 The  “must haves” for you to be considered for this role: 

 

  • Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (pharmacy technician)
  • Accreditation in Medicines Management (AIMM) / Medicines Optimisation Programme (MOP) or equivalent qualification (or willing to undergo accreditation)
  • Accuracy checking pharmacy technician (ACPT) or willing to undergo accreditation

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC
  • NVQ level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (QCF) and relevant underpinning knowledge (BTEC Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Science) or equivalent
  • Mandatory professional CPD as defined by the GPhC
Desirable criteria
  • ACPT or recognised accredited pharmacy technician checking qualification (or to be achieved within 12 months of commencement)
  • Qualified NVQ assessor
  • LPE&T pharmacy technician self-development scheme stage 2 or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Post qualification experience of working in a UK hospital; this must include a solid grounding in all aspects of hospital pharmacy Experience of pharmacy computer systems Experience of audit
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working as a ward based-technician
  • Experience of JAC pharmacy system
  • Experience of using electronic prescribing systems e.g. Cerner
  • Experience of training others

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience of providing patient consultations with regard to medications
  • Excellent ability to organise and prioritise work
  • Good knowledge of main roles and practice of pharmacy staff
Desirable criteria
  • Leadership and delegation skills
