Job overview

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and detail-oriented Research Data Manager to join our dynamic Joint Research Office (JRO) at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the delivery of world-class, patient-centred research in one of the UK’s leading Academic Health Science Centres.

The JRO supports a large, internationally recognised portfolio of clinical and translational research – moving discoveries from bench to bedside to improve patient outcomes. As Research Data Manager, you will play a critical role in strengthening the Trust’s research infrastructure by overseeing data management activities and developing business intelligence capabilities across the organisation.

You will lead the ongoing development, coordination and quality assurance of research data systems such as PowerTrials and EDGE, working closely with clinical teams, research staff, and digital and operational partners to ensure robust, compliant and high-quality data processes. A key part of the role involves working with the Trust’s Business Intelligence and ICT teams to design and implement dashboards and data visualisation tools (e.g. using Qlik Sense), enabling real-time performance monitoring and strategic insight across our research portfolio.

Main duties of the job

In this key position, you will:

•    Oversee research data processes across commercial and non-commercial studies
•    Act as subject matter expert for PowerTrials and EDGE
•    Lead the development of dashboards and reporting tools to enhance research performance tracking
•    Collaborate with Business Intelligence to integrate research metrics into Trust-wide systems
•    Provide training and guidance on data quality, governance, and systems use
•    Line manage and support staff in the data management function

In return, we offer a unique opportunity to develop your career at the intersection of digital innovation, research delivery and clinical care. You’ll join a supportive and forward-thinking team with access to continued professional development within one of the country’s most research-active NHS trusts.

If you’re passionate about research, data quality and actionable insights, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, we’d love to hear from you.
