Job overview
To provide high quality physiotherapy management to patients at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The Pelvic Health Physiotherapy service provides a range of inpatient and outpatient services for women and men on 3 acute sites and 2 community contracts for neighbouring Integrated Care boards (ICB’s). Inpatient obstetrics services are provided to NHS patients. Outpatient services are provided for women and men referred with health issues relating to any of the following: pregnancy, childbirth, bladder and bowel dysfunction, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction. This is a rotational post within the Pelvic Health Physiotherapy service with the opportunity to gain experience across all sites. The job holder is required to work at weekends as part of their contracted hours of work.
Main duties of the job
1. To be responsible for the provision of specialised assessment, treatment and management of patients referred to the Pelvic Health service.
2. To determine clinical diagnosis and formulate an individualised treatment programme indicated for own caseload and maintain records as a specialist autonomous practitioner.
1.1 To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your own work, including safe use of equipment, and the management of patients in your care.
1.2 To provide comprehensive and specialist physiotherapy assessment and diagnosis for patients with a range of presentations, by utilising clinical reasoning, evidence-based knowledge, investigative and analytical skills and specialist manual assessment techniques.
2.1 To use advanced communication, implementing a range of verbal and non-verbal skills, with patients and carers to motivate, maximise rehabilitation potential and to ensure an understanding of their condition.
2.2 To communicate the condition-related clinical findings gained from assessment to carers, families and members of the multi-disciplinary team and other professions.
3.1 To plan and organise time efficiently and effectively with regard to patient management, appropriate use of time and scheduling of other tasks.

Education/ Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc Degree (or equivalent) in Physiotherapy
- HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
- Member of CSP
- Membership of appropriate special interest group (e.g. POGP)
- Post graduate education/course in PH related topic
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Post graduate experience in musculoskeletal or pelvic health physiotherapy
- • Knowledge and understanding of conditions relevant to pelvic health
- • Experience of (at least 1 year) working within a NHS environment
- • Experience of multidisciplinary and inter-agency working
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience at Band 6 level in OPD or PH within the NHS
- Experience of supervising students and/or therapy assistants
- Experience on UK emergency duty rota
- Experience co-ordinating and conducting programmes and classes
- Experience managing pelvic floor dysfunction
Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities
Essential criteria
- Ability to use and apply a range of assessment and treatment techniques and approaches to the management of pelvic health conditions.
- Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate as appropriate and to manage time effectively.
- Ability to remain updated with professional practice and research and integrate this into daily patient management.
- Understand the legal responsibilities of the profession
- Ability to comprehend and work within the Trust’s policies of data protection, equal opportunities and health and safety and meet the differing needs of the patients
