Job overview

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust provides care to our patients undergoing procedures for their varicose veins, in our local anaesthetic unit. We are looking for a Band 5 staff nurse to join our small, but dynamic and pro-active team.

We wish to maintain our existing level of expertise, in order to deliver a high quality, evidence-based and efficient service that delivers a great patient experience. We perform our varicose vein procedures in our local anaesthetic unit based at Charing Cross hospital, three days a week - Monday to Wednesday. Our small unit is located close to our outpatients department, ultrasound scanning and vascular research unit, and is therefore part of a larger vascular unit.

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative nurse, who would like to join our team, and is keen to work with vascular patients who have varicose veins.

Main duties of the job

  • Be able to undertake nursing care at all stages of the patient pathway within the varicose vein unit e.g. admission/discharge, scrub nursing and recovery.
  • Ensure high standards of patient care at all times, challenging poor practice, in accordance with the NMC Professional Code of Conduct.
  • Provide care in accordance with Trust policies reflecting current trends and developments in patient care and the NHS.
  • To provide a suitable and safe environment for the physical, psychological and spiritual well-being for staff, patients/clients and their relatives/carers, seeking guidance or advice where necessary.
  • To provide high quality, effective, individualised care that is compassionate and caring to patients with varicose veins, attending the unit for their day care procedure.
  • To assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate them without supervision.

At Imperial College Healthcare you can achieve extraordinary things with extraordinary people, working with leading clinicians pushing boundaries in patient care.

Become part of a vibrant team living our values - expert, kind, collaborative and aspirational. You’ll get an experience like no other and will fast forward your career.

Benefits include career development, flexible working and wellbeing, staff recognition scheme.  Make use of optional benefits including Cycle to Work, car lease schemes, season ticket loan or membership options for onsite leisure facilities.

We are committed to equal opportunities and improving the working lives of our staff and will consider applications to work flexibly,  part time or job share.  Please talk to us at interview.
