Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward thinking Band 7 Dietitian with good team working skills to join our obesity and bariatric surgery Dietetic team at King’s College Hospital, Denmark Hill.  This new part-time position (24 hours per week) has been established to support the implementation and delivery of a new GLP-1 weight management service. The role is offered on a fixed-term basis until March 2029.

The successful applicant will have significant clinical experience working with people living with obesity including diet and lifestyle management, GLP-1 therapies and an understanding of bariatric surgery. A strong awareness of weight bias and stigma, and their impact on healthcare experiences and outcomes, is essential.

Working alongside 2.5 specialist obesity and bariatric surgery dietitians, the post holder will develop and deliver a service supporting patients living with obesity and complex conditions who are prescribed GLP-1 analogue medications.  They will also contribute to the dietetic care of people under the bariatric surgery pathway.  The Dietitians are key members of our multidisciplinary bariatric surgery and obesity team, consisting of Obesity Physicians, Bariatric Surgeons, Physiotherapists, Psychiatrist and specialist nurses.

Main duties of the job

Your work base will be at the Denmark Hill site of King's College Hospital.  The post will work with uni- and multidisciplinary colleagues to establish and deliver a new GLP-1 weight management service.  The post will also contribute to the dietetic care of people under the bariatric surgery pathway.  The post will be supporting patients on a 1:1 basis in clinics, both face-to-face and virtual, and in groups.

Our large dietetics department expects all staff to be involved in project work, audit and research and teaching of other healthcare professionals in line with our mission to provide excellence in clinical care, research and teaching within King’s Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre. We also undertake student training and the post holders would be expected to play an active role in student supervision.

Working for our organisation

The Trust provides a full range of local and specialist services across its five sites. In June 2026, we launched our new strategy for 2026-31. Our vision is to transform healthcare, and we have agreed six strategic ambitions to help us improve care for patients, and the working lives of our staff.

Our six strategic ambitions are delivering high-quality patient care; creating a great place to work; leading pioneering research, innovation and education; building strong and successful partnerships; providing timely and efficient care; and ensuring long-term financial sustainability.

We have also agreed four new organisational values – Caring, Collaborative, Inclusive, Innovative – and these underpin everything we do, and how our teams interact with the patients under our care.

We are at a pivotal point in our history and we require individuals who are ready to join a highly professional team and make a real, lasting difference to our patients and our people.

King’s is committed to delivering Sustainable Healthcare for All via our Green Plan. In line with national Greener NHS ambitions, we have set net zero carbon targets of 2040 for our NHS Carbon Footprint and 2045 for our NHS Carbon Footprint Plus. Everyone’s contribution is required in order to meet the goals set out in our Green Plan and we encourage all staff to work responsibly, minimising their contributions to the Trust’s carbon emissions, waste and pollution wherever possible.
