Staff Nurse - Clinical Decision Unit
Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust is a community focused provider of local and acute care, providing high quality services to over one million people living across the London boroughs of Lewisham, Greenwich and Bexley.
With a turnover of around £700 million, we provide services at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich, University Hospital Lewisham and a range of community settings in Lewisham. We also provide some services at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup.
The Trust has 7,000 staff and, in 2020, won a London NHS Parliamentary Award in recognition of a wide range of initiatives to make the organisation a great place to work. The Trust was also a finalist in the 2021 Health Service Journal Awards for this programme, which has succeeded in reducing vacancy rates from a high of 17.5% in 2018 to 8.1% at the time of writing. In addition, the Trust’s staff retention is now in the top five in London, with 89% of staff staying at the organisation, against a median of 81% for peer organisations.
At Queen Elizabeth Hospital we see Emergency Care as a specialty for nurses in which they can play a major contribution to patient care. We are currently expanding our specialist workforce to meet the modernisation programme that will see the Emergency Department grow.
The Clinical Decision unit is a 12 bedded 6 chair area for inpatients on the emergency pathway. The Clinical Decision Unit provides high quality patient care to assess a patient’s medical condition, organise appropriate tests and further management to determine their need for inpatient admission.
In order to provide the highest quality of care for our patients we welcome nurses who are honest, reliable, a good team player as well as really caring about the contribution they make to not only patient care but also to their own personal and professional development, working environment and colleagues.
As we have strong links with local Universities an amazing benefit to joing the team is that we are committed to delivering work-based educational initiatives. We offer a band 5 development programme which includes in house accredited Foundations of Emergency Nursing Course.
If you would love to be part of a fun, supportive team then please apply today.
