We answer around two million 999 calls a year and our crews attend more than 3000 emergencies a day. Our 24-hour 111 integrated urgent care services London answer around two million calls a year.

We play a leading role in integrating access to emergency and urgent care in the capital and are striving to ensure patients receive the right response, in the right place, at the right time

Our main role is to respond to emergency 999 calls, providing medical care to patients across the capital, 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. Other services we offer include providing pre-arranged patient transport and finding hospital beds. Working with the police and the fire service, we are prepared for dealing with large-scale or major incidents in the capital.

 

 

Job overview

Working in the Clinical Audit and Research Unit the Clinical Data Administrator will manage allocated LAS’ clinical registries through data collection, input and quality assurance. The Clinical Data Administrator will be required to produce routine reports and information about clinical and operational performance that will be used by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) to inform and enhance patient care. In addition, the Clinical Data Administrator will support and partake in related clinical audit and research activities as and when required.

Main duties of the job

  • Extract and input data into the Database from the emergency 999 call log and patient records to include clinical, performance and operational information.
  • Interpret recorded information to determine the care that was given to patients and translate cases where documentation is readily codable.
  • Link and merge information where more than one record exists for each patient.
  • Trace patients in national registries and collect information on patient outcomes.
  • Day-to-day responsibility for achieving own data entry targets and escalating any barriers to achieving these.

Essential criteria
  • Qualified to A-Level/NVQ Level 3 standard or equivalent experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with large complex computerised data sets
  • Experience of analytics software such as Power BI
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working in a clinical audit environment, or similar
  • Some basic clinical knowledge and/or knowledge of medical terminology acquired through work based training

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of computer packages including SQL, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of computer packages to analyse data (such as MS Excel or SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences))
  • Basic statistical skills; able to compute and interpret frequencies, distributions, percentages and display these as graphs and charts

Personal Abilities

  • Able to write formally and professionally
  • Able to deliver formal and informal professional presentations
  • Reliable employment record with a low level of absence due to sickness in the last two years
