Position Description

The medicolegal assistant will be a member of the medico-legal advisory team. The assistant will work closely with experienced Medicolegal Advisers (MLAs) in order to provide a range of medicolegal and other support in the management of cases including complaints, inquests, disciplinary and medical regulatory matters.  Following appropriate training the assistant will also independently manage an appropriate case load, including medical student fitness to practise cases.

Required Experience

The post is open to those with experience as an allied health professional or nurse/ nurse practitioner, with  meaningful clinical experience and current registration with the appropriate professional body.

Working knowledge of healthcare, medical terminology, personal injury or medico-legal work is essential and an ability to evidence an interest in the legal aspects of clinical practice desirable.  The successful candidate will need to be highly self-motivated, with the ability to prioritise their workloads within a busy environment. You must be able to think problems through and solve them. Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal and written skills are essential. The ability to grasp complex information quickly is a must. Above average IT skills are a pre-requisite.


Location

Medico-legal Assistants will be home-based within the UK, but the basic induction training will be at our London office for a period of approximately 6 weeks.
