Job overview

We are seeking enthusiastic Core Trainee (LAS) doctors to join our in-patient mental health teams at the Highgate West Mental Health Centre with effect from 5th August 2026 for a period of 6 months. These posts offer an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience in managing severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, within a supportive and dynamic multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

•    Working on acute treatment and Psychiatric Intensive Care Wards (male and female)
•    Participating in daily morning MDT meetings, patient reviews, and case formulation discussions.
•    Gaining comprehensive experience in psychiatric assessment, patient management, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
•    Developing your skills through excellent clinical supervision and training opportunities.

  • MBBS or equivalent qualification
  • Full GMC registration

Experience

  • Experience in general medicine and/or psychiatry

  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good clinical skills
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Emotional and Personal Resilience. Ability to cope with out of hours duties.
  • Interest in in-patient psychiatry
