Job overview

We are offering a maternity leave cover post for a year where you will join a dynamic pain psychology team offering both individual and group treatment.  You will be part of this established specialist team providing input to the secondary care persistent pain multi-disciplinary team.  The pain service is based at Edgware Community Hospital though you would also be expected to travel to other venues within the Trust or sites where the pain management programme is delivered.

You would also belong to a larger community of psychological therapies in the Trust that offers a variety of specialist supervision groups, training days and informal support structure.

Main duties of the job

You would be expected to offer assessments individually or alongside MDT professionals and interventions that include the pain management programme and other group programmes. You would also provide advice, consultation and guidance to the wider MDT team and be expected to contribute to the audit programme within the speciality.  Please see the job description and person specification for further information.

Education & professional Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 2000)
  • HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including community, primary care, outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity
  • Evidence of postqualification clinical experience in management of clients with persistent pain, using cognitivebehavioural assessment and intervention techniques.
  • Post-qualification experience of facilitating multidisciplinary Group Pain Management Program.
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision
Desirable criteria
  • Completion of at least two years post-doctoral post-qualification supervised clinical experience with persistent pain patients.
  • Post-qualification experience of work within interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary environments.
