Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the promotion and ongoing education of ward users in the use of the BloodTrack bedside system and sample labelling system. The post holder will contribute to the maintenance and development of the BloodTrack bedside system to its fullest potential in order to deliver a safe Blood Transfusion pathway for patients, and 100% traceability of blood components. The post holder is expected to interact with a wide range of multidisciplinary staff in the Trust including suppliers of the Blood Track bedside system, and work closely with the Transfusion practitioner teams.
Main duties include: supporting the Lead transfusion practitioner with implementation and maintenance of the Blood Track bedside system, teaching users to use the system, troubleshooting equipment, administration of the system, and associated audits.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will offer World Class Care to service users, staff, colleagues, clients and patients alike.
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains Blood Track equipment and devices for bedside transfusion and sample labelling.
- Act on, troubleshoot, repairs, and resolves reported equipment issues, user issues with the equipment.
- Identify equipment malfunctions.
- When necessary liaise with external Agencies to arrange for equipment repairs to be carried out and arranging for any such repair to be funded by the relevant department.
- Arrange for disposal and replacement of equipment in line with established Trust procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR PATIENTS:
- Ensures that patients’ complaints are handled in accordance with the Trust’s Complaints policy after appropriate training
- Maintains patient confidentiality, in line with Trust policy and Caldicott / Data Protection Act requirements.
