Job overview
This is a 12 month fixed-term post. The post holder will be based within the Neurodevelopmental (NDT) CAMHS, which focuses on the assessment and provision of specific evidence based interventions including in young people with an existing diagnosis of Autism and / or Intellectual Disability and additional mental health difficulties. The post will also include providing 2 sessions to the community Paediatrics to support social communication joint assessments.
This is a time of change and expansion in the medical team in Lewisham CAMHS. We have a number of well established and experienced Consultants and will be expecting to recruit to another (full time) substantive post. We will expect to have a total of 5.5 WTE. We have specialist interests in neurodevelopmental disorders, ADHD, Intellectual Disabilities, Forensics, Children in Care and Crisis/Complex Case management Care.
Main duties of the job
This post includes 4 PAs of direct clinical activity with the NDT, of which 1 day is allocated to Autism Assessments under a service level agreement with Community Paediatrics.
The post benefits from 2PAs of structured professional activities, during which the post holder will contribute to service development, research clinical governance and quality improvement, in addition to completing continuous professional development and pursuing other professional activities.
The NDT is a well-established service that also has another consultant psychiatrist (6 PAs) as well as consultant psychology (part-time) to support in the leadership of the team. The clinical service lead is an experienced and highly efficient clinician who manages the supervision of the multidisciplinary team members. We offer specialist interventions following assessments to these young people and includes individual work as well as group. The team have a history of innovative work, sometimes presenting her work at international conferences and publishing the treatment models. It is open to young people and children aged 0 to 18 years who are registered with Lewisham GP and have additional mental health difficulties (with an existing diagnosis of autism (ASD) and/or intellectual disabilities (ID)).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
1) Assessment and management of children and young people, and to provide psychiatric input for both routine and emergency clinical care.
2) Supervision of junior medical staff. It is expected the post holder will be an accredited clinical supervisor, or will become so if not already
3) Attending and chairing clinical meetings as timetabled.
4) Liaising and communicating with the MDT, other professionals, teams and agencies
5) Strong clinical leadership
6) Provision of advice to other CAMHS teams.
7) Participation in peer and group supervision meetings.
8) Participation in training of medical students, psychiatric trainees and multidisciplinary staff.
9) Adherence to agreed job plan and appraisal procedures set by the Trust. Also to complete GMC Revalidation requirements within every 5 year cycle
10) Maintain GMC registration, maintain a License to Practice and participate in CPD to remain in good standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
11) Maintain Section 12 and Approved Clinician approval. If the appointee is not Section 12 or AC approved, they will be expected to become so as soon as possible

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MRCPsych membership or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
- Experience in other relevant specialties such as in patient psychiatry, liaison psychiatry (especially Paediatrics)
Eligibility
Essential criteria
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
- Evidence for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within six months of gaining CCT in C&A psychiatry or Equivalent training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CESR issued by PMETB).
- Section 12 approved
- Approved Clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment
Training and Experience
Essential criteria
- Special interest in neurodevelopmental conditions
- Trained in ADI-R and ADOS or equivalent
- Experience in Outpatient/Community Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
- Experience of assessing and managing complex co-morbidities
Desirable criteria
- Training in investigation of complaints and SIs
- Experience of providing consultation to non-CAMHS practitioners
Clinical Skills
