ACAT Accredited Senior Adult CAT Therapist and Supervisor
We are very pleased to open applications for the following post: Applications are sought for n ACAT Accredited Senior Adult CAT Therapist and CAT Supervisor- 8A post- 0.8wte [30 hours] commencing April 2024.
The post will involve running 2-4 CAT supervision groups, conducting complex assessments, clinical work, consultation, service development and participation in possible teaching within SLAM.
The applicant will need to be:
An accredited ACAT Therapist
An accredited ACAT supervisor
A current member of ACAT.
Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd
- To work autonomously as a Senior Adult Psychotherapist within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service’s policies and procedures.
- To provide CAT Clinical supervision and manage the clinical work of CAT Trainees and Honorary staff undertaking clinical placements within Lambeth SCPT holding to the training structures of the Association of Cognitive Analytic Therapy [ACAT] and in accordance with the service’s policies and procedures.
- To deliver the systematic provision of a highly specialist CAT psychotherapy service to patients referred to the service.
- To undertake highly specialist assessments of referrals to CAT and refer appropriately to other interventions in the relational pathway
- To offer highly specialist advice and consultation to other mental health professionals.
- To undertake advanced and highly specialist continuing professional development in Cognitive Analytic Therapy and other psychotherapy methods as required.
- To contribute to the CAT training program as required
- To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development.

SLaM provide the widest range of NHS mental health services in the UK as well as substance misuse services for people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol. There are very few organisations in the world that have such wide-ranging capabilities working with mental illness. Our scope is unique because it is built on three major foundations: care and treatment, science and research, and training.
SLaM employ around 5000 staff and serve a local population of 1.1 million people. We have more than 230 services including inpatient wards, outpatient and community services. Currently, provide inpatient care for approximately 5,300 people each year and treat more than 45,000 patients in the community in Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark; as well as substance misuse services for residents of Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich.

Qualifications
Meini prawf hanfodol
- A recognised qualification in a core mental health professions e.g. psychiatric nursing, OT, medical Psychotherapy, social work, doctoral level clinical or counselling psychology, with demonstrable competence to practice in mental health in the NHS.
- Accreditation as an ACAT CAT clinical supervisor
- Current membership of ACAT
- UKCP registration as CAT Psychotherapist.

- Relevant specialist training in relation to working with mental health challenges, personality disorders, challenging behaviour, offending behaviour, culture & diversity needs or personality difficulties
Experience

- A personal therapy experience of sufficient intensity, depth and duration to be able to work psychotherapeutically with difficult and demanding patients.
- Significant experience of delivering CAT and one other psychotherapeutic modality, including a range of presenting problems at secondary-care level.

- Clinical supervision of mental health clinicians (
- Active involvement and participation in EDI related issues organisationally and/or clinically. Experience working psychotherapeutically with Black and ethnic minority groups
Skills

- Autonomously undertake CAT risk assessment and management with highly complex secondary care patients
- Communicate clearly, effectively and sensitively with patients, particularly when presenting highly complex and contentious issues in high risk situations, and with colleagues and managers, in written and verbal forms, including the clinical notes and reports.

- The capacities for organisation, management and self-management, including the ability to autonomously manage a clinical caseload
- Demonstrates ability to work effectively as a team member, co-operate and negotiate, accept constructive criticism and be appropriately assertive in a constructive manner.
- Ability to undertake clinical and other audits in order to monitor and improve the service.
