Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity with responsibility for the set-up, recruiting to, and co-ordinating early and late phase clinical trials, and the shared line management and training of research staff working in this portfolio.

The key theme of research excellence in Cardiology is sudden death/inherited arrhythmias and sports cardiology. These are well represented and further enhanced by linked cardiac topics including heart failure, echo and pathology. The department participates in many trials, including NIHR portfolio work.

Participation in high quality early and late phase trials is critically important for Cardiology to maintain its position as a leader in the Cardiology Research field worldwide and the successful candidate will be key to this. The successful candidate will work closely with Principal Investigators to establish and further develop Cardiovascular research.

Key responsibilities of the post include the co-ordination and shared management of the Cardiology team and an agreed research portfolio. Central to this role is responsibility for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients participating in  early/late phase clinical trials.

Informal visits  are encouraged.
