Job overview

This post is part of a 9 month rotation  in the  following 4 areas: Acute Medicine, Senior Health, Acute Stroke, Inpatient Neuro Rehabilitation and Senior Health Rehabilitation.

Main duties of the job

Nutritional management of inpatients (senior health, stroke, neuro) with various long term conditions, who require dietetic assessment, intervention and rehabilitation. Patient caseload includes those on artificial tube feeding and feeding and oral nutritional supplements who require dietetic monitoring to ensure nutritional requirements are safely met.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc / Post graduate diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics
  • HPC registered
Desirable criteria
  • Membership of BDA and relevant specialist group e.g. Oncology Specialist Group

Experience/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Postgraduate experience of working in acute and/or community dietetic services at graduate / band 5 level
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Experience of undertaking clinical audit /research
  • Experience in the clinical supervision of students
  • Experience of multidisciplinary team working
  • Experience in teaching and education to patient groups and healthcare professionals
  • Knowledge of dietetics within the NHS
  • Knowledge of dietetics within specialist area
Desirable criteria
  • Clinical experience of working in specialist area

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Good oral and written communication skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Ability to prioritise own workload
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Motivation and behavioural change skills

Other

Essential criteria
  • Able to respond to unpredictable work patterns and frequent interruptions
