Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic & self-motivated individual to work in our busy and thriving Endoscopy unit with St Georges University Hospital.

The Endoscopy unit provides facilities for both inpatient and outpatient 
investigations. The unit offers a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures across 6 specialist rooms. The unit is staffed by a team of experienced endoscopy nurses, gastroenterologists, gastrointestinal surgeons and respiratory physicians, endoscopy booking coordinators, the 
endoscopy team leader and is led by the Director of Endoscopy.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of the Endoscopy day case booking team and be responsible for day case bookings, answering of telephones and liaising with patients, doctors, nurses, secretaries and GPs. The post holder will work as part of a team to provide the admin support for the Endoscopy training courses. The post holder will support the Endoscopy Admin Team across all three Trust sites.

The successful applicant must be computer literate as the role requires a high level of computer awareness. You must also have excellent communication skills, be confident and work well within a team.

Person specification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of RTT pathways and diagnostic pathways
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word and email etiquette
  • Good knowledge of patient booking systems and of all relevant NHS waiting time targets, including 18 week and cancer PTL management
  • Knowledge of requirement of confidentiality and the Data Protection Act
  • Understanding of uploading correct current patient details
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of customer service- phone calls with patients
  • Understanding of demand and capacity planning
  • Waiting list management
  • Understanding the importance of booking patients correctly
  • Experience with Luna - validation of PTL
  • Understanding of answering phones on time

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Computer / word processing skills including ability to use Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to independently take responsibility for resolving problems e.g. capacity problems and ensuring positive outcomes
  • Analytical skills including experience of data collection and producing reports

Experience

  • Relevant administration experience in a hospital or similar environment
  • Experience in establishing / maintaining robust systems

Qualifications
