Service Improvement Analyst

Job overview
You will work within the Service Improvement Team on projects across both Synnovis and SynLab, which can vary in complexity and location.
The role will support the continuous development of processes, you will be building transformational change capability and capacity across all services through project-based work. This will include identifying ways to improve the business's services, processes, and systems.
The projects you will be leading will be of a wide variety, from test result TAT adherence, process-waste elimination, corporate process improvement, and laboratory capacity increase, all within a variety of our pathology services.
Projects will use but are not limited to using DMAIC Lean Six Sigma, 5S Events, SynLab Transformation methodology, and PDCA cycles.
You will have the tenacity to drive change, the people skills to influence teams to move on improvement, the creativity and curiosity to look across all boundaries to identify best practices for the continual improvement of our services, and most importantly an enhanced patient experience.
Main duties of the job
- Perform initial engagement with key stakeholders when the Continuous Improvement Team is presented with a project opportunity.
- Ensure the scope is established, understood, and maintained throughout the course of a project.
- Using the support of the Heads of departments; create and lead a project team that consists of the expertise required to execute each project accurately and efficiently.
- Apply Change Management techniques during initial engagement with departmental teams, addressing individual concerns and offering assurances to achieve customer buy-in.
- Using the DMAIC phasing of Lean Six Sigma, identify and implement any “quick wins” and/or benefits that are realised within a process; before the project is complete. This will involve discussions and approval from the team members and Sponsor.
- Work with the Continuous Improvement team and Project Teams to ensure the delivery of SMART, sustainable change and measure the impact of improvement initiatives.
- Analyse processes using appropriate techniques devised and included within the Lean Six Sigma “toolbox.” (e.g. process maps, spaghetti diagrams, time in motion studies).
- Analyse and interpret data (quantitative and qualitative) to provide insights and analysis for improvement initiatives.
- Produce and confidently present Gate Reviews to varying audiences of seniority providing updates on project progress.
- Ensure robust links between improvement initiatives and projects within the organisation to prevent duplication and work across boundaries to promote whole systems improvement.

Synnovis is a pathology partnership between SYNLAB UK and Ireland, and the NHS, including sites, Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, to deliver and transform pathology services across South East London.
The partnership provides services to 1.7 million people living in South East London, as well as to hundreds of thousands of patients from outside the region who use local healthcare services.
The partnership provides diagnostics, testing and digital pathology for hospital trusts, GP services and other healthcare providers.
Synnovis’ Corporate HQ; housing our Finance, Procurement, HR, Service Improvement and Business Development teams. Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment and with staff at a senior level
- Demonstrable experience with lean projects implemented
- Evidence of achieving hard/soft outcomes from improvements
- Lean principles built into production cells/operations environments
Desirable criteria
- Experience in Healthcare services
Skills & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate projects without supervision
- Highly developed numeracy skills
- Ability to produce and interpret statistical data to produce clear information
- Confident presenting skills
