The Tavistock Trauma Service is an innovative, multi-modal specialist service offering group and individual therapy as a part of a phase-based approach to complex trauma. We have a specialist arm for non-recent (historical) child sexual abuse as well as working with other forms of developmental and adult traumas.

We are looking for a psychodynamic/ psychoanalytic psychotherapist to initially take up a 18 month fixed term role within the service. We are hoping to secure permanent funding for this post during the next year.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The role will primarily involve offering consultation and psychotherapy to patients who have experienced complex trauma.  

The post-holder will also support service development projects, as well as offering screening appointments, facilitating psychoeducation groups and with peer support in the service. There may be other opportunities to co-facilitate groups in the service. Experience of working with complex trauma in an NHS setting and using different modalities is desirable as the role will allow for creativity and contributing to the development of the service.

  • Registration with BPC as psychoanalytic or psychodynamic psychotherapist
  • Skills for assessing and communicating complex client conditions and applying appropriate clinical treatments
  • High level of skill and knowledge in safeguarding and risk management
  • Ability to work effectively within a team
  • Experience working with patients with Complex Trauma
  • A comprehensive understanding of the changing NHS and Social Care environment and the challenges they face
