Job overview

We recruiting a full time General Manager in Haematology in the Cancer Division at UCLH.
The successful candidate will have strong operational management experience and will be expected to provide operational and service improvement leadership for their department. You will be responsible for the day to day running of the service, effective management of budgets, workforce, performance and delivery of cancer performance targets. The role is also an exciting opportunity to work on an array of service improvements and transformations. Candidates should have experience of working closely with multidisciplinary teams and be able to demonstrate effective communication skills and strong values based in line with the UCLH Trust values.
UCLH provides one of Europe’s largest clinical haematology services in the newly opened state of the art Grafton Way Building hospital. Teams deliver highly specialised care across a number of areas including Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant, Haematological oncology (Lymphoma, Myeloma, Acute and Chronic Leukaemias, Myelodysplastic disorders, Myeloproliferative disorders), Haemoglobinopathies, Coagulation and Thrombosis, (including Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura) and General Haematology.

Main duties of the job

The directorate works closely with laboratory Haematology services and provides medical cover for the Specialist Integrated Haematological Malignancy Diagnostic Service (SIHMDS), which are managed as part of the clinical support division. There is also a cellular therapy unit, providing accredited facilities to support the department’s ambitious programme in stem cell harvests, gene therapy and immunotherapy and a large apheresis unit in the Macmillan Cancer Centre, performing both therapeutic and harvesting procedures. The department also hosts The Red Cell Network and is a nationally commissioned specialist TTP centre.
The clinical department works closely with academic staff at the UCL Cancer Institute to function as a joint Department of Haematology and is a recognised centre of excellence for clinical haematology services.
