Knowledge & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • A BPS accredited and HCPC approved Doctorate in Clinical Psychology PLUS Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC OR equivalent core professional qualification (i.e. nursing) with evidence of post graduate qualification in specialist psychological therapy (ie CBT, ACT, Hypnotherapy), and appropriate experience of delivering the therapy.
Desirable criteria
- • Interest in working towards further postgraduate qualification in hypnotherapy.
- • Qualification and experience in CBT, ACT, and Trauma Based therapies.
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Assessment and therapeutic interventions with adults
- • Multi-professional healthcare team working
- • Applying psychological knowledge, assessment, formulation and interventions to people with physical health problems
- • Working within a multi-cultural framework
- • Formal teaching and training to healthcare providers other than psychologists
Desirable criteria
- • Working with people with ‘functional somatic symptoms” such as CFS, FMS, FND, DGBI
- • Contribution to initiatives to improve patient experiences
- • Supervision of other healthcare providers
Skills
Essential criteria
- • The ability to apply psychological approaches to medical populations
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
- • Ability to cope with workload pressure/prioritise own workload, using organisational and administration skills
Leadership, Teaching and Training

- • Ability to detect potential conflict and propose early resolutions
