The Bedfordshire Child and Adolescent Mental Health is community based, and we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity to join our South Bedfordshire Neurodevelopmental Team (NDT). 

 

We are seeking a CAMHS Practitioner to join our experienced team of motivated professionals consisting of Clinical Psychologists, Learning Disability Nurses, Therapists, Community Support Worker and Psychiatrists, to work closely with partnership agencies to provide a very well-respected service to children, young people and their families. The team, combine clinical, teaching and research skills to deliver up-to-date, evidence-based interventions for children with neurodevelopmental conditions, who also have moderate to severe mental health difficulties or present with behaviours of distress or challenge to others. 

Main duties of the job

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and highly organised person with relevant experience working with young people diagnosed with a Neurodevelopmental condition and their families, who can work well within different systems, demonstrates high level written and verbal communication skills and will be keen to use supervision and training to develop assessment and clinical skills.   

As a CAMHS Practitioner you will contribute to the service by conducting 1:1 therapeutic interventions and carry out clinical and risk assessments.   You will contribute to case discussion and formulation, carry out patient observations in various settings, collect and analyse data, prepare reports, have involvement with team developments and deliver training.  

To meet the needs of the NDT team, the successful applicant will need to be available to work in the clinic on Fridays.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Batchlers degree or above in Psychology, social worker, Nursing or equivalent profession.
  • Training in Professional mental health clinical work (eg IAPT training, systemic practitioner training, CBT training)
Desirable criteria
  • Further post graduate training in relevant area of professional psychology, health and social care Practice.
  • Completed MSc / PhD in a subject related to child mental health/ child development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with children or young people/adults with complex needs
  • Experience of working with people with Neurodevelopmental Diagnosis.
  • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of teaching other professionals
  • Experience of working in schools
  • Experience/knowledge of working in a multi-ethnic community and of working with interpreters.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • To be able to communicate effectively under pressure and maintain a high degree of professionalism at all times
  • Ability to be flexible and cope with multiple demands.
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to teach basic CAMHS concepts
