Role                     :            Integrated Clinical Lead Pharmacist

We are looking for a Band 8A Integrated Clinical Lead Pharmacists. The post-holder will be based 3 days a week in Houghton Regis supporting the Home treatment team.

For the remaining days, the successful candidates will be expected to support Inpatient Mental Health Clinical services, working closely with Inpatient Clinical Lead Pharmacist/Lead Pharmacist to develop clinical pharmacy services within Bedford and Luton Inpatient services.

*The post holder will have the opportunity to train or practice as a non-medical prescriber or undertake the Advanced Clinical  Practioner (ACP) course*

Main duties of the job

Monday to Friday. Saturday 1 in 12 weeks (8-12 remote). Oncall optional

We are seeking a Specialist Mental Health Pharmacist to join our dynamic Bedford and Luton mental health team as the Integrated Clinical Lead.

We are an expanding trust, which means there is lots of opportunity for experience and growth. We cover Adult inpatients, CAMHS, Perinatal Services, Crisis and Home Treatment teams, Community Mental Health and you will have the opportunity to link in with our pharmacy teams in Community Health Services and Primary Care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

What are we looking for

  • Ability to engage and influence within teams
  • Ability to develop services
  • Ability to manage and optimise medicines to improve patient outcomes alongside the wider team
  • Ability to engage patient and their families through the recovery process
  • Coaching/management experience
  • Independent Prescribing qualification is desirable. If not held, successful candidate will be guided and supported on journey to be accredited as a Non Medical Prescriber.

Educational/ Qualification

Essential criteria
  • Vocational Masters Degree in Pharmacy (equivalent)
  • Pre-registration training
  • Post registration training relevant to hospital pharmacy (substantial experience in a Mental Health setting)
  • Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council and/or Royal Pharmaceutical Society
Desirable criteria
  • • Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy/Psychiatric Therapeutics (or equivalent)
  • • Post Graduate Diploma/MSc in Clinical Pharmacy/Psychiatric Therapeutics (or equivalent or willing to work towards this)
  • • Supplementary or Independent Prescriber (or willing to work towards this)
  • • Associate member or member of the CHMP

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Proven experience of good performance in previous posts, where relevant
  • • Demonstrate ability to appropriately recommend, substantiate and communicate medicine related information to Mental Health patients, carers and clinical staff
  • • Previous evaluated experience of mentorship
  • • Setting objectives and appraisal techniques
  • • Clinical Audit
  • • Education and Training of other staff.
  • • Staff management experience
Desirable criteria
  • • Monitoring and advising on drug expenditure
  • • Working in a community setting
  • • Providing teaching sessions to pharmacy and other staff
