This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced CAMHS clinician to join the South Bedfordshire CAMHS Service. We are looking for a clinician from a core CAMHS discipline (MH Nursing, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, Systemic Family Psychotherapy or Clinical/Counselling Psychology) to join the CAMHS Adolescent Mental Health Team.

The primary role of the South Bedfordshire CAMHS Adolescent Mental Health Team (AMHT) is to support adolescents experiencing complex and serious mental health problems. The AMHT delivers a robust multidisciplinary team approach offering individual, family and group interventions which are evidence based and trauma informed. There are also opportunities to develop unique services for the local population using a quality improvement approach, depending on the need expressed and demand.
We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and experienced mental health practitioner to join our friendly and professional team. The post-holder will require a high degree of professional autonomy, self-management and drive with the ability to work well in a team and within the multi-agency environment.
This post will provide a highly specialist mental health service to children, young people and their families, who have complex mental health needs by offering specialist assessment and treatment packages of care. This is a community based post, located within the Adolescent Mental Health Team (AMHT) care pathway offering flexible, evidence based episodes of care to manage complex clinical presentations and ensure that the optimum level of care is achieved. The post holder will require a high degree of professional autonomy and self-management, and will be a highly visible presence in clinical practice.

The Senior Management Team within South Beds CAMHS is committed to staff development: there are regular opportunities for staff to apply for appropriate training courses and to get involved in quality improvement initiatives and new developments in the service, some associated with a higher banding during the time of the project. We also have a significant number of positions in the trust for clinicians up to band 8D, opening up paths for promotion for ambitious members of staff. The East London NHS Trust prioritizes staff wellbeing and we are introducing a range of staff wellbeing initiatives to support this.
Our clinically-led service is strongly committed to continuously improving the experience and quality of care we offer our families. The successful candidate will receive a robust induction program, regular clinical and management supervision to support this role.
This post is based in Luton, Bedfordshire, close to the M1 and easily reached by rail and car from South London, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Southamptonshire.

- A qualification in Child Psychotherapy, Clinical Psychology, Family Therapy, Nursing, Counselling Psychology, Social Work or other equivalent profession
- Clinical Psychology Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996)
- Registration with HPC
- Masters or Doctoral level qualification in Systemic Family Therapy Qualification in appropriate mental health/social welfare profession such as Soci
- Family Therapy Qualification in appropriate mental health/social welfare profession such as Social Work, Clinical Psychology, Nursing or Counselling Psychotherapy or AFT agreed equivalent
- UKCP Registered
- Child Psychotherapy Honours degree. Postgraduate Diploma/MA in Psychoanalytical Observational Studies or recognised equivalent. Masters in Psychoanalytical Psychotherapy: Child and Adolescent.
- Registered member of ACP
- Nursing Registered Mental Health/Learning Disabilities Nurse Relevant post-graduate qualification in Child and Adolescent Mental Health. Substance mis-use or equivalent (e.g. ENB 603)
- Counselling Psychology Postgraduate Doctorate in Counselling Psychology or its equivalent. Registration with HPC
- Social Work Recognized Social Work qualification such as Diploma in Social Work with an MA in Social Studies, or Degree level Social Work qualification or CQSW.
