Job overview

We are seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial Innovation Lead, Commercial and Partnerships to lead our OLS commissioned Innovation Exchange programme and drive our commercial and strategic growth agenda. You will be responsible for shaping and executing high impact partnerships between the NHS, academia, and industry, supporting the adoption of evidence-based innovation, and developing new business opportunities aligned with ICHP’s mission and commercial strategy.

Main duties of the job

The description of the role is generic, without reference to specific projects or programmes, which will change over time. Postholders will be assigned to specific projects and programmes during the year, in line with the objectives and development plan agree each year; and based in part (not exclusively) on the skills centre to which the post is designated. Postholders will be expected to work in project-based ‘matrix’ teams, working with colleagues drawn from across the organisation. And, commensurate with the seniority of the role, postholders will be expected to act as designated senior leads for one or more matrix projects, with a responsibility to lead across the whole project team, coordinating inputs from colleagues with different specialist inputs to secure delivery of work that meets the client need.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Programme Leadership

·       Lead delivery of OLS commissioned Innovation Exchange activity, ensuring alignment with health system need.

·       Shape strategic direction and growth of our innovation ecosystem workstreams, ensuring high-quality delivery and robust stakeholder engagement. 

Partnerships Management

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with relevant stakeholders including NHS, academia, SMEs, life sciences companies, VCs.
  • Connect innovators to NHS demand; broker collaborations that enable adoption and spread of impactful innovation.
  • Support SMEs and commercial innovators to navigate NHS systems, health economics, and real-world validation.’ 

Innovation Adoption & Scale

  • Support NHS partners in selecting, implementing and evaluating high-impact innovations, focusing on scalable, evidence based solutions.
  • Work across ICHP’s missions and ICS priorities to embed innovation.

Commercial & Business Development

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities securing contracts and strategic partnerships with NHS organisations and industry.
  • Develop commercially viable offerings and support the design of new products and services that support ICHP and system priorities.
  • Lead bids, tenders, and funding proposals, collaborating with internal teams and external partners.

 

 

Person specification

Knowledge and experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in delivering complex healthcare-related improvement projects and programmes, and working alongside senior clinical and operational professionals
  • Experience of working at a senior level in health service, local authority, academic, or related field
  • Experience in delivering complex healthcare-related improvement projects and programmes, and working alongside senior clinical and operational professionals
  • Experience of supporting industry partners at different levels of maturity from start-ups to established industry players
  • Well-organised, able to prioritise, and flexible to with emergence of issues in a rapidly changing, dynamic environment. Ability to anticipate issues and create solutions and to resolve problems in relation to project or service delivery
  • Competent at working with quantitative and qualitative data to deliver relevant, robust, and action-oriented conclusions
