We answer around two million 999 calls a year and our crews attend more than 3000 emergencies a day. Our 24-hour 111 integrated urgent care services London answer around two million calls a year.

We play a leading role in integrating access to emergency and urgent care in the capital and are striving to ensure patients receive the right response, in the right place, at the right time

Our main role is to respond to emergency 999 calls, providing medical care to patients across the capital, 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. Other services we offer include providing pre-arranged patient transport and finding hospital beds. Working with the police and the fire service, we are prepared for dealing with large-scale or major incidents in the capital.

 

 

Job overview

The Emergency Capabilities Unit Education department is responsible for the national delivery of education for the following capabilities; CBRN, MTA & Mass Casualty, Conventional Rescue, Command and Control . The ECU Education Programme Manager will manage a portfolio which is responsible for the delivery of education for several of these capabilities and look to support the delivery of education within the EPRR environment.  They will work closely with the Consultant Paramedic (Head of Education) to develop the delivery of education nationally and ensure that ECU Education meets their commissioned work streams each year.

Main duties of the job

• The post holder will provide managerial and leadership support to the programmes function of the department and lead the development of all recognised formal education under ECU to ensure courses remain current in line with best practice.
• Take a key role in continuous improvement and development activity, contributing to developing new practices that will lead, through education, learning and personal/career development, to both improved patient care and staff job satisfaction and welfare.
• As a member of ECU, the post holder will be actively involved in promoting best clinical practice within the Service.

Qualifications, Accreditations, Education

Essential criteria
  • Masters or equivalent experience
  • Full driving licence, valid in the UK and no more than 3 penalty points
  • Evidence of continuous personal and career development
  • Practising and current HCPC/NMC registered paramedic or registered Nurse /Midwife

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Working in Educational / Training Services
  • Experience of working within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience of managing, developing and motivating staff in a team context
  • Experience of influencing at a senior managerial level
  • Experience of engaging effectively with internal and external stake holders
  • Expertise in developing policies and procedures to influence both inter and intra departmentally working practices
  • Evidence of research into education methods and pedagogy
  • Evidence of proficiency in using software and digital technology including mobile and social media platforms to support education and clinical practice
  • Experience conducting highly complex investigations and writing re ports that may include sensitive or contentious information
  • Ambulance, emergency service or health service experience
  • Experience of working with digital technologies including mobile / electronic learning apps such as TOTARA, ESR / OLM, GRS, EPCR, UCP, MiDOS, MPDS and ADASTRA
  • Experience of working in teams to deliver programmes and projects of work which involve change
