Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Together with the others to provide Maternity & gynaecology services for women attending Kings College Hospital. This includes all aspects of treatment and relevant management duties required for the proper functioning of the department.

Shared responsibility with the others for providing 24 hour, 7 day a week cover for the obstetrics & gynaecology on an on-call rota basis. Responsible also for covering colleague’s periods of annual leave and short-term sickness/absence.

To contribute to departmental audit programme in accordance with the Trust’s R&D framework.

To be aware of, and comply with, all Trust infection prevention and control policies, to include hand hygiene, personal hygiene, environmental and food hygiene. To undertake annual training/updates in infection prevention and control.

To prepare for and undertake the protective interventions that you are responsible for in a manner that is consistent with evidence based practice and maintaining patient safety.

Essential criteria

Registerable medical qualification.
Completed pre-registration/Foundation years (or equivalent outside the UK)
Experience in day to day organisation of O&G services in a busy Teaching Hospital
Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit and quality improvement.
Experience of undergraduate and post graduate teaching and exam preparation.
Effective communicator, able to work in a close-knit team and co-operate with all medical and paramedical staff.

Desirable criteria

Additional qualifications ATLS/ACLS/ALS/APLS
Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices
Familiar with current structure of Health Service and conversant with recent initiatives and changes.
Evidence of clinical audit and/or quality improvement project
Familiarity with information technology and general computer skills.

Healthcare Support Worker

The role

As a Healthcare Support Worker within the Woodfield Health Centre, you will be a valued member of a close-knit clinical team, providing hands-on care and support to 800 pupils aged 11 to 18. Working under the guidance of our registered nurses, you will contribute to the day-to-day wellbeing of young people across the school, from the Health Centre to the boarding houses and everywhere in between.

The role has genuine variety. You might be supporting a pupil recovering from illness, assisting with medicines management, contributing to infection control procedures, or helping boarding house staff navigate a health concern with confidence.
