Job overview
To provide high quality clerical support to the medical and nursing staff on the ward and to be responsible for the management of patient information. To be accountable for the greeting of patients and visitors attending the Children’s Ward and ensuring they are informed appropriately.
Main duties of the job
Medical Records Management:
1.1 To update and maintain accurate complete patient data on the computer-based system (Epic).
1.2 To conduct quality audits as requested by the medical team.
1.3 To ensure that patients are admitted appropriately to the ward.
1.4 To ensure that external correspondence is processed and sent to the scanning bureau team to be uploaded onto Epic.
1.5 To enter and retrieve data from all current Trust computer systems in place (Epic) to an acceptable data quality standard.
1.6 To ensure that all GP summaries are mailed within 24 hours of patient discharge.
1.7 Ensure all inpatient activities are correctly captured on the system for coding as appropriate.

Essential criteria
- Good standard of secondary education with literacy and numeracy skills demonstrable to GCSE pass or equivalent
Experience

- Demonstrable NHS administrative and organisational experience
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team (Team player)

- Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
- Able to demonstrate strong communication skills including the ability to relate and communicate with patients and staff at all levels
