Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Clinical Fellow (ST6-8) to replace a current gap in service provision for twelve months. The remit of the post holder will be to work within the multi-disciplinary team providing and further developing care for women in Maternity & Gynaecology. In addition, the individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the department.
Main duties of the job
Applications are invited for a Trust Senior Clinical Fellow post in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology to be based at the Princess Royal University Hospital of King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to commence in June 2026 for a 12 month fixed term contract, which may be renewed. The post holder will be on-call (with ST1-2 and ST3-5) as part of the Junior O&G rota which is EWTD compliant and provides protected time for teaching. Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Together with the others to provide Maternity & gynaecology services for women attending Kings College Hospital. This includes all aspects of treatment and relevant management duties required for the proper functioning of the department.
Shared responsibility with the others for providing 24 hour, 7 day a week cover for the obstetrics & gynaecology on an on-call rota basis. Responsible also for covering colleague’s periods of annual leave and short-term sickness/absence.
To contribute to departmental audit programme in accordance with the Trust’s R&D framework.
To be aware of, and comply with, all Trust infection prevention and control policies, to include hand hygiene, personal hygiene, environmental and food hygiene. To undertake annual training/updates in infection prevention and control.

Essential criteria
- Registerable medical qualification.
- Completed pre-registration/Foundation years (or equivalent outside the UK)
- Experience in day to day organisation of O&G services in a busy Teaching Hospital
- Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit and quality improvement.
- Experience of undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and exam preparation.
- Effective communicator, able to work in a close-knit team and co-operate with all medical and paramedical staff.
Desirable criteria
- Additional qualifications ATLS/ACLS/ALS/APLS
- Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices
- Familiar with current structure of Health Service and conversant with recent initiatives and changes.
- Evidence of clinical audit and/or quality improvement project
- Familiarity with information technology and general computer skills.
