Job overview

We are looking for enthusiastic inquisitive minded individual who are from nurturing caring background to join our dynamic ophthalmology team at Moorfield's Potters Bar , Barnet Road , Potters Bar , EN6 2RY 

The Role involves working in partnership with multi professional team of  nurses , doctors and optometrists to support  in taking diagnostic imaging as part of cataract , Glaucoma and Medical Retina .

You will work closely with qualified nursing staff in providing high quality individualised care to a defined group of service users, relatives and carers.

Ensuring the safety and well-being of service users, and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and confidentiality through the adoption of person-centred care principles. 

Main duties of the job

To attain competencies, by following the Trusts required protocol for cataract , Medical Retina and Glaucoma.

To support qualified staff in the assessment of health needs, planning, delivery and evaluation of care for a number of individuals or groups of patients, including clinical risk assessment for theatre.

To exercise a reasonable and agreed degree of professional autonomy and make judgements and decisions in order to satisfy the expectations and demands of the job.

To undertake clinical work and related tasks as delegated by qualified nursing staff following appropriate training and assessment of competency.

To liaise effectively with all stakeholders in the care process, including carers and relatives, aspiring to provide an effective, seamless and integrated service to patients.

To attain competencies, by following the Trusts required protocol.

To act as chaperone when required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Main  responsibilities of the role is to work as part of multi disciplinary team assessing , planning and implementation of care to our ophthalmology patients through diagnostic imaging , pre assessment and preparing patients for surgery. Supporting health promotions and caring for the eye.

  • At least GCSE or Equivalent
  • NVQ Level 2
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 3
