Over the previous 5 years Oxleas established a highly regarded musculoskeletal (MSK) service in partnership with King's College Hospital for Bexley CCG. We have taken this excellent work forward in a new alliance partnership working with the CCG and local secondary care providers. This is to continue to provide rapid triage, assessment and treatment for Bexley residents with MSK conditions and MSK rehabilitation needs, linking with other services to ensure the right treatment is delivered in the right place and time. The previous MSK service has won the Bexley CCG mystery shopper patient experience award for two years running, the Bexley Care team of the year in the annual Oxleas recognition awards in 2017/18, and the Bexley team of the Quarter award in 2021.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a motivated Band 5 Physiotherapist with excellent clinical skills to work within our First Line Management Service within Oxleas NHS as part of our Musculoskeletal pathway in Bexley. Our pathway enables a whole system approach for patients referred for Musculoskeletal management and enables streamlined, expert management of conditions in the right place, first time.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a highly regarded and clinically specialised team of orthopaedic, rheumatology and pain consultants, podiatrists, ESP physiotherapists, occupational therapists and psychologists. The ideal candidates will develop knowledge and experience within areas of rheumatology, pain management, spinal, upper limb and lower limb conditions. High levels of motivation and the desire to work as part of team of a highly effective clinical team are essential.
The successful applicants will be required to work with a diverse patient population and interact with various stakeholders across primary and secondary care, so the post is best suited to someone who is an excellent communicator and aims to excel in providing optimal patient care.
The MSK Service has a strong track record of developing staff with an established multidisciplinary in-service training program and regular patient review sessions.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Outpatients Physiotherapist specialising in musculoskeletal care
- Working in large multidisciplinary team
- Access to twice monthly in-service training programme
- Protected clinical supervision and preceptorship programme
- Suitable for new graduates
- To negotiate with carers, clients and others around individuals case management
- To recognise potential breakdown and conflict when it occurs and seek advice and support to resolve
- To use knowledge to inform sound clinical judgements/decision making for case management
- To make clinical decisions on the basis of evidence from assessment seeking advice as appropriate
- To develop clear plans based on best practice and functional goals negotiated with the client
- To demonstrate the ability to reflect on practice with peers and mentors and identify own strengths and development needs
- To reflect on and evaluate training provided with a view to implementation into own practice
- To adapt practice to meet individual patient/client circumstances and needs
- To monitor own and others quality of practice as appropriate. E.g. Clinical Outcome Audits/ competencies.
- To be responsible for the safe and competent use of therapy equipment, appliances and aids. Ensure that support staff/ students attain competency prior to use. To undertake duties at all times with regard to the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.

- Degree in physiotherapy
- Member of the HCPC
Experience
Essential criteria
- Broad Clinical experience undergraduate
- Demonstrates experience or understanding of benefits of MDT
- Documented evidence of relevant MSK CPD

- Good verbal and written communication skills
- MSK Patient Assessment Skills
- Understands clinical risk pertaining to MSK
