This video gives a flavour of what it is like to work at our Trust and why some of our staff love working here 💙
Job overview
The Medicine Care Group is seeking a motivated and experienced Service Manager for Respiratory and Renal Medicine. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred services.
Working closely with the General Manager, Clinical Leads and senior nursing colleagues, you will support the operational management of Respiratory and Renal services, ensuring the effective delivery of elective, non-elective, cancer and diagnostic pathways. You will focus on achieving key performance targets, improving patient flow, supporting service recovery and driving continuous service improvement.
The successful candidate will provide operational leadership across multidisciplinary teams, managing performance, workforce planning, medical staffing and financial resources. You will play a key role in delivering transformation initiatives, improving productivity and maintaining high standards of quality, patient safety and patient experience.
Applicants should have strong operational management experience, excellent organisational and communication skills, and the ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Experience of leading change and delivering service improvements within an acute healthcare setting is desirable. This role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop your leadership skills while promoting the Trust's values of collaboration, compassion and continuous improvement.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for overall safe and smooth delivery of identified services as set out in the Trust business plan and national service frameworks.
Responsible for delivering relevant performance targets and metrics, including clinical outcome objectives and service line reporting.
Interpret data available within the service to report, monitor and track performance and to satisfy reporting requirements within the designated areas of responsibility.
Work in partnership with the Information Department to provide specialty specific reports which feedback performance to the General Manager and other senior staff.
Working for our organisation
We’re an organisation that is getting better and better and our improvements are driven by a determination to deliver care we’re proud of and our patients are happy with.
They are benefitting from a new electronic patient record (we were the last acute trust in London to introduce one) and our maternity services have been rated good by the Care Quality Commission.
We operate from two main sites – KGH in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We have two busy emergency departments with more than 346,000 people visiting them last year. We’re campaigning to secure the £35m we need to transform the A&E at Queen’s and get rid of corridor care.
We’re proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre, Radiotherapy Centre and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. We’re also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.
We run a Women’s Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The majority of our 8,400 staff – who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. Many can work flexibly and more than 400 of them are on our Ofsted accredited apprenticeship programmes. We’re proud to be a London Living Wage employer.
