8A
PEOPLE are at the HEART of everything we do
This video gives a flavour of what it is like to work at our Trust and why some of our staff love working here 💙
Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and driven Advanced Clinical/Nurse Practitioner to join our established vascular team.
You may be expected to work cross site as part of the vascular surgical team and will be assessing, diagnosing and treating patients presenting to our emergency and ambulatory departments and continuing high quality care for our vascular surgical inpatients.
You will be required to see patients that have been referred from either site and discuss these referrals with the registrars and Consultants. You will review patients in the outpatient setting and manage your own workload.
Our innovative Elective Surgical Hub at our King George's site is one of eight pilot sites nationally to develop our current services and have already been granted £14m to expand our theatres, upgrade our staff facilities and double the number of recovery beds.
If you feel that you are dedicated to providing high quality evidenced-based care then we would love to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
The Vascular Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) will work as part of the Vascular Surgery team, using specialist knowledge and skills to provide healthcare independently to patients. The ACP is accountable for the management of patients on surgical and medical wards and in the outpatient clinic setting.
The post holder will act as a role model, delivering advanced practice and promoting clinical effectiveness in care. He/she will be required to work autonomously in delivering independent assessment, clinical examination, diagnosis, clinical decision making and prescribing. They will contribute to the planning of care and treatment, health promotion and safe admission or discharge of patients and with their follow-up care.
The post holder will work closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team and will play an integral role in the operational/strategic development of the service.
The post holder will promote and facilitate evidence-based practice and clinical audit and research within the Trust.
The post holder will work collaboratively with other health care professionals and disciplinaries and provide leadership and education to others.
Working for our organisation
We’re an organisation that is getting better and better and our improvements are driven by a determination to deliver care we’re proud of and our patients are happy with. We’re no longer in special measures; we’ve opened two new theatres at our Elective Surgical Hub in King George Hospital (KGH); and, in recognition of our progress, we’ve been shortlisted for Trust of the Year at the Health Service Journal Awards.
We operate from two main sites – KGH in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We have two busy emergency departments with more than 330,000 people visiting them last year. We’re campaigning to secure the £35m we need to transform the A&E at Queen’s and get rid of corridor care.
Our patients are benefitting from our Women’s Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub.
These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and are providing an extra 94,000 scans a year.
The majority of our 8,000 staff – who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. Many can work flexibly and more than 400 of them are on our Ofsted accredited apprenticeship programmes. We’re proud to be a London Living Wage employer.
We’re looking forward to introducing an electronic patient record that will be transformative for our staff and beneficial for our patients.
