Are you a Respiratory Physiotherapist with a passion for delivering outstanding care that brings the 6 Cs (care, compassion, commitment, courage, communication and competence) to life? If so, we want to hear from you.

We have an exciting opportunity within our Respiratory  service, which provides one-to-one and group-based interventions to Havering residents with long term respiratory conditions.  The service offers clinic and domiciliary based care, and assessment of oxygen needs in addition to rehabilitation groups.

The post holder will provide clinical expertise and effective leadership, and work in conjunction with the clinical lead  to further advance the quality of care, rehabilitation and experience we offer our patients. The post holder will work closely with clinicians from other pathways the service offers eg.,home oxygen service assessment and review, COPD case management.  

Main duties of the job

You will receive regular supervision, training and support from respiratory lead to address your learning needs and work closely with other members of the MDT. Internal and external courses are supported as part of your CPD

  1. To be an integral proactive member of Havering Respiratory services in partnership with Key Stakeholders.
  2. To provide high-quality leadership qualities for junior staff in Havering Respiratory team by having and implementing organisational knowledge relating to trust protocols and procedures and supporting all to adhere to them.
  3. To support  Pulmonary Rehabilitation programme within Havering
  4. Support the development of high – quality clinical respiratory care throughout the respiratory care pathways, supporting others to do the same through integrated and collaborative working
  5. The respiratory care/education will be delivered in local NHS or community venues, in the patient’s own home or residence, as individual or group sessions as appropriate
  6. To be responsible for own and others caseload management
  7. To participate in the trusts appraisal and supervision system and support others to do the same
  8. To keep accurate and up to date patient records in accordance with local trust, professional body, and legal requirements
  9. To participate in and ensure effective risk management behaviours across the Havering Respiratory team by accident/ incident reporting, assessing and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are added to the trust register.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
 
Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.  As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.


 High Cost Area Supplement - London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary y (minimum payment of £4,108 and a maximum payment of £5,177 per annum pro rata).

  • Registered Physiotherapist-
  • First Degree or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Non Medical Prescriber
  • Post-Reg Physiotherapy qualification
  • Pulmonary Rehabilitation training course by ACPRC

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with Respiratory Patients
  • Experience of organising and running group rehab programmes
  • Ability to work independently and as part of team
  • Experience of working as part of MDT
Desirable criteria
  • Community experience

Skills

  • IT competent, understanding and use of various programmes
