Job overview
· To manage one of the Imaging Modality services on a day-to-day basis, to undertake Imaging and be responsible for the training of other radiographers and where necessary students. Line Management responsibilities and to assist in the day-to-day running of the Radiology Department.
· It is a job requirement to coordinate and where reasonable, meet waiting targets relevant to the area.
· To on lead on issues relating to clinical governance and equipment maintenance for the modality.
· Undertake clinical work and maintaining high standard of work of own and other members of staff.
· Manage the multi-disciplinary team working within your area.
· Deputise and provide support for the Imaging site Clinical Lead Radiographer.
Main duties of the job
1 To lead and manage the CT radiology department to meet all relevant targets.
2 To lead on all issues related to the relevant imaging modality, maintaining agreed standards of professional and technical competence. To lead on all issues relating to the modality.
3 Work closely and in collaboration with the other CT superintendent in the Trust and cross cover as required by the Radiology Management team to maintain all round expertise in all aspects of the modality in charge.
4 To work closely with designated Consultant Radiologists in establishing and complying with agreed protocols. Implement new services and procedures, disseminate information to staff and train them accordingly.
5 To communicate complex and difficult information to patients; to gain their co-operation and understanding especially in stressful situations and ones where there are barriers to communication and specifically to give specialist advice on the services available to them and contact numbers they may require.
6 Have a high awareness of the emotional needs of patients attending for their modality or service.
7 Work closely with MDT professionals when performing diagnostic tests on sedated adults and children.
8 Look after the personal needs of patients while they are in the department, giving due regard to issue of cross infection.
9 Assist patients to transfer from beds, trolleys and wheelchairs as required.
