We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.

Job overview

We are recruiting a Clinical Governance Lead to provide expert advice and support to Borough and Clinical Directors, Service Managers and Heads of Service, on patient safety, clinical effectiveness and quality of care delivered; with a particular emphasis on ensuring incidents and patient feedback are reported, reviewed and learning shared in accordance with best practice.

Main duties of the job

To support a dynamic portfolio of clinical governance, patient safety and patient feedback services to deliver the West London NHS Trust Quality and Patient Safety Strategy, and adhere to related policies and statutory expectations.

As well as working in a corporate and integrated way within the larger Clinical Governance Team, the post holder will be responsible for providing expert patient safety and patient experience support to Hammersmith and Fulham Borough mental health services.

The post holder will also be expected to work across borough and services lines, and take the lead on key Trust-wide clinical governance projects, as reasonable circumstances dictate, and as directed by their line manager.

  • Demonstrable experience relating to clinical governance and patient safety

  • Sound understanding of the health and social care landscape, and the place of external partners in this landscape

Knowledge/ Skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable ability to produce high quality concise reports and narratives, often within a tight timescale.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from a wide variety of disciplines.
  • Proven understanding of statutory and mandatory responsibilities regarding clinical governance, risk and complaints management.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of quality improvement and assurance principles and processes relevant to healthcare settings.
  • Proven ability to collate information from various sources and to summarise such information concisely
  • Proven ability to deliver training requirements coherently and accurately.
  • Proven computer literacy skills in database use such as incident reporting, excel.
