West London NHS Trust  provides a full range of mental health, community  and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.

We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.

Job overview

We’re looking for a passionate and motivated Band 7 Nurse to join our Reducing Restrictive Practice (RRP) team within West London Forensic Services.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in improving patient experience, enhancing safety, and shaping how care is delivered across our inpatient forensic wards.

Our services provide safe, therapeutic environments for individuals detained under the Mental Health Act. We are committed to trauma-informed care, promoting recovery, and ensuring the least restrictive, most compassionate approach to care at all times.

We’re keen to hear from nurses who:

  • Are passionate about patient-centred, trauma-informed care
  • Have experience in mental health and/or forensic settings
  • Are confident in leading change, influencing practice, and supporting others
  • Have a strong interest in reducing restrictive interventions and improving care quality

This role will involve working across different sites within the Trust and contributing to wider service improvement initiatives.

Main duties of the job

As a Reducing Restrictive Practice Nurse, you will:

  • Lead and support initiatives to reduce restrictive interventions (including restraint and rapid tranquillisation) while maintaining patient safety
  • Work closely with the Restrictive Practice Lead to monitor, analyse, and improve practice through data and governance
  • Support patients who have experienced restrictive interventions and help shape individualised, recovery-focused care plans
  • Deliver training, supervision, and guidance to staff across services
  • Play a key role in improving patient experience and engagement, ensuring service user voices are heard
  • Contribute to the development of policies, protocols, and service improvements

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a forward-thinking, values-driven team
  • Opportunity to lead meaningful change across services
  • Ongoing professional development and leadership opportunities
  • Work in a supportive environment where innovation and ideas are encouraged
  • Make a tangible impact on patient safety, dignity, and recover
