Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of Adult Orthopaedics in-patients’ team with a 12 month fixed-term contract (with potential to extend). We are looking for Band 7 Physiotherapist who will be responsible for providing a high-quality therapy service to the adult orthopaedic inpatient caseload within the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust. The Band 7 Physiotherapist is required to provide clinical supervision and act as a source of specialist advice to student, Band 5 and 6 physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and therapy technicians. The post holder will also provide a high standard of physiotherapy assessment, treatment and advice to patients, carers and families. Be the lead role in the assessment, diagnosis and formulation of physiotherapy treatment plans and lead within the multi-disciplinary team, providing specialist advice to other specialist health professionals, both internally and externally. You will be joining the team of 20+ therapy staff. You will also support the Clinical Lead within Adult Orthopaedic Therapy Team with the delivery of the national and RNOH AHP strategy.
You will be supported by a Clinical Specialist Therapists and encouraged to develop your clinical, managerial and research skills.

Main duties of the job

· Will work as part of the seven day a week rota and physiotherapy emergency overnight on call rota

Education/ Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Diploma/degree in physiotherapy
- Registered with HCPC
- Evidence of CPD maintained portfolio including attendance at recent post graduate courses relevant to this post/specialist area
Desirable criteria
- Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
- Successful completion of recognised post-registration clinical course in specialist field
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive post graduate experience within the healthcare environment
- A broad range of clinical experience including orthopaedics.
- Experience at minimum of band 6 level, working in specialist area
- Attained a high level of clinical competence in your specialist area
- Experience of student or physiotherapy assistant supervision
- Experience of leading clinical audit in specialist area and demonstrates a sound understanding quality issues
Desirable criteria
- Experience in NHS
- Experience working with patients with complex needs
- Undertaken research / evaluation of practice / work based projects and initiated change
- Involvement in national clinical interest group
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria
- Up to date knowledge of professional practice and new research
- Understands legal responsibilities of profession
- Able to present information, written and orally, in a clear, concise and logical manner
- Ability to organise and prioritise a complex and busy caseload
- Ability to communicate with patients with complex presentations/histories or impaired communication abilities. Able to demonstrate empathy, motivate and persuade patients with impaired cognitive abilities or physical senses.
- Demonstrates a sound understanding of clinical governance and its implications for physiotherapy
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and with emotional patients and carers
- Ability to carry out moderate to intense physical effort throughout the working day, often multi-tasking
