Job overview
This is a chance to step into a high-impact, fully embedded Tier 4 advanced podiatrist role within one of South West London's most comprehensive diabetes foot and threatened limb services for up to 12 months until the 7th of July 2027.
The post is available because an existing team member is taking up a secondment at another NHS Trust. You will join a well-established, supportive multidisciplinary team. This currently includes:- diabetes consultant, vascular consultant, orthopaedic consultant, microbiology consultants, advanced podiatrists, microbiology pharmacists, amputee physiotherapist, diabetes specialist nursing, orthotist and interventional radiologists.
You will manage a high-acuity inpatient and outpatient caseload spanning acute diabetes foot emergencies, complex wound management, chronic limb ischaemia, and MDT-led limb salvage including those with diabetes, vascular diseases, cancers, rheumatology disorders and peripheral neuropathy disorders.
Band 6 podiatrists, a secondment opportunity or bank position would be considered.
Main duties of the job
You are an HCPC-registered podiatrist with post-graduate experience in diabetes foot care or the acute high risk foot and a passion for working at the acute, complex end of the specialty. You will be confident managing inpatient and outpatient caseloads autonomously, contributing to multidisciplinary discussion, and supporting the clinical development of junior colleagues. However applications are also welcome from those with less experience working in this setting if highly motivated to learn and develop within the acute limb salvage speciality.

Working for our organisation
At Epsom and St Helier, we’re proud to care for more than 490,000 people across south west London and north east Surrey. We provide a wide range of services including cancer care, pathology, surgery and gynaecology.
Our two busy hospitals, Epsom Hospital and St Helier Hospital, are at the heart of our Trust, supported by other key sites such as Sutton Hospital. We also play an important role in two forward-thinking integrated care partnerships: Sutton Health and Care, and Surrey Downs Health and Care.
St Helier Hospital is home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children, while Epsom Hospital hosts the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC). Both hospitals have 24-hour Accident and Emergency departments and maternity services, keeping our communities safe and supported around the clock.
Every year, nearly 900,000 people come through our doors for care and treatment. Our 8,700+ staff and 500 volunteers work tirelessly to provide outstanding services and compassionate care to every patient, every time.
As teaching hospitals, we are helping to shape the future of healthcare. We work closely with St George’s Hospital and St George’s Medical School to offer high-quality education and research opportunities. Outside of St George’s Hospital, we support more medical students than any other teaching hospital in south London
