An opportunity has arisen for a for a band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist within the Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery Unit (Private Care) at The Royal Marsden.  The post holder will work under the supervision of the Matron and Lead Nurse.

The post holder has a distinct level of responsibility to patients treated within the Plastics & Reconstructive Surgery unit at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust to provide a comprehensive specialist nursing service. There is a requirement to work cross-site including Fulham Road and Sutton.

Provision  of  specialist  high  quality,  expert nursing  care and support  for patients undergoing plastic surgery and for their carers.

To  act as a resource for patients and the clinical team by the provision of comprehensive specialist advice, information, teaching and training both  within the Royal Marsden and externally.

Update own knowledge to promote excellence in advanced clinical

To critically appraise evidence based literature and to use this knowledge to lead in house educational programs training staff and students.

  • Plastics and/or oncology qualification
  • Complex wound management experience

  • Experience in research and audit
  • Established publication record
  • Non medical prescriber

  • Relevant clinical expertise and skills as an advanced practitioner in Plastic Surgery Care
  • Experience working in oncology

  • Ability to set up and maintain efficient administrative systems
  • Computer literate Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Ability to work with others to teach specific clinical skills
  • Knowledge of current evidence to underpin practice
  • Evidence of commitment to customer care initiatives and incorporation of cultural values into practice.
  • Evidence of innovative practice
  • Ability to set and monitor standards
  • Ability to show tact and manage boundaries.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
