Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced physiotherapist to join the dedicated team at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a physiotherapist with experience in treating patients with cancer and a desire to work with this patient group. You will be supported by senior colleagues and there are many educational opportunities available.
Main duties of the job
The Band 6 Physiotherapist is an active member of a team that provides a high quality; evidence based physiotherapy service for the patient with cancer. The post holder will rotate through a number of specialist units providing high quality physiotherapy care to both in and out patients across adults and TYA.

- Provide a physiotherapeutic diagnosis, to develop and deliver individualised treatment programmes and make appropriate referrals to other disciplines.
- The post holder has a responsibility to share best practice and answer or direct queries from health care professionals, patients and carers nationally
- Be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients
- Manage clinical risk within own patient caseload
- Be an active member of the emergency overnight and weekend on-call rota
- Comply with the Trust Manual Handling Policy and local therapeutic handling guidance at all times

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Diploma/degree level qualification in physiotherapy
- Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or have alternative indemnity arrangements
- HCPC Registered Physiotherapist
- Evidence of on-going personal/professional development through maintenance of CPD portfolio
Experience
Essential criteria
- NHS experience
- Demonstrable knowledge in core physiotherapy skills
- Rotational experience in respiratory, neurology, orthopaedics and musculo-skeletal conditions
- Knowledge/Experience in the treatment of patients with cancer
- Relevant teaching/supervision experience
Skills, Abilities & Knowledge

- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, carers, physiotherapy colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team
- Ability to show tact and to manage boundaries
- Able to work without direct supervision
- Ability to make decisions, organise and prioritise

- Ability to work in a stressful environment and recognise the additional stresses of patients/carers dealing with a cancer diagnosis
