Job overview

To manufacture, assemble, erect, install and test new installations, services and equipment.                                                                                                          To undertake any duties which may be required commensurate with grade and competence as deemed necessary by the changing needs of the Trust.
Carry out fault analysis, testing, manufacturing, replacing, isolation, modifying, inspecting, improving, installing, maintaining & repairing of all electrical/ mechanical services, plant and equipment in compliance with all good practice guides, operational maintenance manuals and statutory requirements. Be proactive with regard to all forms of maintenance, good site resource management and security.
Undertaking maintenance, repairs, minor improvement and capital work across the Trust as directed by management, ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures.
Allocation of maintenance staff and resources (both directly employed and contractors), to ensure that Reactive, Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), New Works and all other Maintenance Services are undertaken in an efficient and effective manner, to appropriate standards and within budget. 
Ensuring works are undertaken in a timely manner and the performance management of directly employed maintenance staff. 
Providing technical advice and ensuring appropriate ‘repair’ verse life cycle replacement decisions are taken and that unresolved issues are appropriately managed and reported.

Main duties of the job

To be proficient in carrying out speedy, effective repairs & PPM's on all types of plant clinical and non-clinical including, nurse call, air conditioning/ventilation, fire alarms, generators, batteries, boilers, motors, pumps, emergency lighting, fixed electrical equipment, lighting, power, security systems, door entry systems, data, communication, lifts, plumbing installations, heating installations, fuel systems etc. as directed by the Team leader. Undertake essential repair works and general maintenance activities at the request of the Team leader. To liaise with Team leader regarding plant or equipment failures and to request the supply of goods and/or services as necessary

  1. Undertake fault finding on complex systems, critical systems & equipment.
  2. Carry out PPM inspections & commissioning tests in accordance with Trust procedures
  3.  Complete all report sheets & test certificates.
  4. To follow PPM schedules
  5. Always interprets and follows the regulations
  6. Immediately notifies the Team leader of any deviation from the regulations
  7. Follows detailed engineering drawings & specifications
  8. Uses all relevant tools & equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of works
  9. Undertakes inspection and commissioning tests for the installation & issues the appropriate completion certificates
  10. To attend training establishments as necessary
  11. Provide training, technical advice & support to Trainees and Maintenance Assistants
  12. Any other duties appropriate to the grade
