Job overview

  • Responsible for the coordination and management of BioResource studies, including but not limited to D-CYPHR (children aged 0–15) and IBHO (Improving Black Health Outcomes).
  • Collaborates effectively with research teams and the wider multidisciplinary team to manage a personal caseload of clinical trial participants, ensuring compliance with both local and national performance targets.
  • Key duties include study setup facilitation, patient identification through MDTs and clinical note screening, data collection, venepuncture, laboratory support for blood sample processing, patient interviews, ongoing monitoring, and accurate data entry.
  • Provides patients with clear, evidence-based information to support informed decision-making regarding trial participation, while acting as a dedicated patient advocate throughout the research process.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability by working across various clinical specialties, in alignment with professional qualifications and service needs.

Main duties of the job

  • An exciting opportunity has arisen for two full time Clinical Research Practitioner/Nurse to join our friendly Team.
  • The Clinical Research Facility (CRF) position holder will play a key role in the delivery of clinical research at St. George’s Hospital, developing and creating robust systems and processes to enable clinical research to run smoothly, efficiently and whilst ensuring the highest of standards are maintained.
  • This role involves liaison with Principal Investigators and other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide high quality data collection and clinical care, with a commitment to participant safety and welfare. The post holder will be expected to advocate for patients and empower them to make informed choices concerning their involvement in clinical research studies by providing advice and information.
  • The post holder will work with a high level of autonomy, taking delegated responsibility from clinicians for clinical decision making, and will work closely with investigators and multidisciplinary staff.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • RGN with NMC PIN / Practitioner with experience
  • Educated to diploma/degree level in Relevant Subject
Desirable criteria
  • Good Clinical Practice or willingness to be trained
  • Trained and willing to the trained in Laboratory work including blood processing
  • Venepuncture experience or willing to be trained

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant post registration experience
  • Previous experience in audit and evaluation
  • Experience of explaining complex concepts to patients in a clear and simplified manner
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in Clinical Research
  • Experience working/communicating with children and parents
  • Experience communicating with people from different backgrounds

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal & management skills
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritise workload
Desirable criteria
  • Adaptable ad flexible to work in different environments within the healthcare setting

Knowledge
