Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Nurse with respiratory experience to join our wonderful multidisciplinary respiratory team, here at St George’s NHS trust.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced respiratory nurse to provide autonomous holistic care to patients with our Intestinal Lung Disease (ILD) service.
As part of the ILD multi-disciplinary team the post holder will
Provide professional and operational leadership to the ILD Team as well as support service development.
Be responsible for high quality care and the efficient, safe, and effective performance of respiratory team members including staff management.
The post holder will be a skilled and competent nurse with experience in caring for patients with interstitial lung disease, with the ability to work autonomous and as part of a team. They should be able to use their clinical expertise, leadership skills, education, and management to ensure a
seamless service for patients, carers and staff across inpatient and outpatient services.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Adult General Nurse – registered with NMC
- Minimum of three years post registration experience, of which 18 months within respiratory.
- Teaching and Assessment qualification/experience.
- Clinical Assessment Skills Module – currently undertaking or completion of
- Level 1/2 Smoking cessation training
Desirable criteria
- Non-medical prescribing qualification
- Experience of assessing and selecting suitable modalities and prescribing oxygen for patients.
- Competent in capillary/ arterial blood gases and interpretation.
- Undertake Quality assured Spirometry (and interpretation)
Experiences and skills
Essential criteria
- Knowledge and in depth understanding of the clinical management of patients with ILD.
- Recent experience as an band 6 management/leadership role.
- Staff management and appraisal.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Audit and or research in clinical area.
- Ability to prioritise work and to help co-ordinate the service, working with the MDT locally and nationally.
- Computer literate

- Project management skills
- Contribution to policy development and changes in practice.
- Involvement in recruitment and selection

- Able to manage a case load of patients & supervise junior staff in caseload management.
- Knowledge of relevant local and national policies relating to the provision of respiratory services
