Occupational Therapist

Band 5

West London NHS Trust  provides a full range of mental health, community  and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.

We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.

Job overview

We are looking for a band 5 Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our award winning well respected Lakeside Mental Health Unit Occupational Therapy team. We are looking for someone who is interested in and committed to making a positive difference in service users lives through group and individual work. The post holder will work as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team with the opportunity to grow and develop the OT role. We offer regular supervision and training for all our staff along with regular PDR’s. The OT’s are part of a wider AHP team within West London NHS Trust and are given the opportunity to link in and network with peers during our Band 5/6 AHP Development Program, AHP Forum and regular training and events.

Main duties of the job

·       To provide a client-centred occupational therapy service to a defined caseload of service users with complex needs, within the local services working with multi-disciplinary team members and the occupational therapy team.

·       To actively develop and implement a framework of care, which reflects a holistic approach to service user needs, and the seven pillars of clinical governance.

·       To work under the supervision of a senior or professional lead/head occupational therapist, to apply clinical skills in occupational therapy assessment, treatment planning, intervention and evaluation, which include individual and group orientated approaches.

·       To contribute to the evaluation and continued development of the occupational therapy service, as well as taking responsibility for the direct supervision of less clinically experienced qualified staff, support staff and occupational therapy students.
