Job overview

We are seeking highly motivated and experienced nurses who can use their initiative, have a vested interest in emergency care, and want to be a part of a multidisciplinary team. We accept patients from the A&E Department as well as from GP referrals who come directly to the Ambulatory Clinic on the Unit, where they are assessed and treated in a timely manner.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to develop your skills whilst delivering assessment care of the highest quality to our patients. You will be passionate about providing the highest standards of care and thrive in an environment in which no two days are the same. You will understand that professionalism and excellent communication skills are paramount to achieving the best outcome for our patients.

We believe in empowering and developing our staff to the best of their ability by providing high quality training programs, rotational programs, and extensive supportive mentorships. This is an opportunity for experienced staff to take their career to the next level and carve out a meaningful career path.

Interview date is yet to be confirmed.

  • Participate in all ward activities as an effective team member, supporting the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse taking the responsibility for the leadership of a team of staff.
  • To assess care needs, and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • To teach and supervise qualified and unqualified staff, and to act as a role model to junior staff, undertaking performance management as required.
  • To take responsibility and accountability for a group of patients and the whole department/unit/ ward for the duration of shift.

Working for our organisation

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services, including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics, and maternity services. The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit, and outpatient clinics.

The safety and well-being of our patients and staff is paramount and we are making urgent improvements to address this – particularly in infection prevention and control. We are making progress by working in partnership with local GPs, charities, community services, academic partners, our local authority, neighbouring hospitals, and the wider North West London Integrated care system, and ensuring that we listen and work in partnership with our local population. We are focused on ensuring that our hospitals provide high quality, safe, and compassionate care, while we drive forward with the building of the new Hillingdon Hospital.

We have over 3,500 members of staff that are proud to care for nearly half a million people, with a vision to be an outstanding provider of healthcare through leading health and academic partnerships, transforming services, to provide the best care where needed.
