Specialist Occupational Therapist in Neuro-rehab

(Band 6 or 7 depending on experience up to 35 hours)   

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Hillingdon Hospitals Specialist Neurological Rehabilitation Teams.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist who demonstrates high level of rehabilitation and communication skills within a multidisciplinary environment and wants to develop and specialise in neurological rehabilitation.

The Hillingdon Specialist Rehabilitation Service incorporates the Alderbourne and Daniels Rehabilitation units providing in-patient level 2 specialist neurological rehabilitation for Northwest London.

Our integrated therapy service is committed to continuing your professional development (CPD) alongside providing high quality patient care. You will be given regular support, training, clinical supervision and will participate in in-house training sessions. You will also have opportunity to developing your supervision and leadership skills, supported by the Therapy team lead.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

- Gain experience in treating patients with a variety of neurological conditions and complexity including acquired brain injury and spinal cord injury.

- Work within an established multidisciplinary neurological therapy team and develop close links with social services and other agencies.

- Have excellent opportunities to develop your skills in physical and cognitive rehabilitation, splinting and specialist seating

- Have opportunities to contribute to the service development.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are looking for candidates who:

·         Have HCPC registration and post graduate experience in physical health.

·         Have NHS experience at minimum Band 5 level, including rotations within neurological rehabilitation or experience treating stroke patients and other neurological conditions

·         Are hardworking, adaptable, possess high-level communications skills, initiative and resilience.

·         Demonstrate strong teamwork skills

  • Meets essential qualifications
  • Previous experience of working in the NHS
  • Extensive post-registration experience of O.T.
  • Evidence of recent experience of neuro-rehabilitation with a range of neurological conditions
  • Experience and evidence of successfully working within an MDT team
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Evidence of understanding of theory and practice delivery of neuro-rehabilitation OT
  • Evidence of CARES values
Desirable criteria
  • Post graduate courses in relevant fields
